INcarcinoma: A Poetic Outline is a Multi & Inter-Arts exhibit, funded by the Ontario Arts Council, which merges photography (Hasi Eldib), poetry (Vanessa Rotondo), installation and performance to document a young woman’s journey through breast cancer.

The purpose of this work is to raise awareness about breast cancer, specifically in young women, to support families and friends impacted by cancer and to inspire empowerment and hope through the arts. Discover Art History Series

Emmett is a fourth-year student in the Art History program, and works at the Carleton University Art Gallery. In Art History, we study the realm of visual communication in all its varieties, from art and architecture around the world to photography and popular culture. We aim to instill in our students not only a historical framework for understanding imagery, but also a methodological awareness of the multiple possibilities for interpreting art and other visual phenomena.

Elizabeth is a second-year Masters student in the Art History program, and works at the National Gallery of Canada in our practicum program. Carleton University offers students a unique opportunity to work on-site in one of Ottawa’s major art museums or cultural institutions, where they gain hands-on experience in museum, gallery, or archival work for university credit.

Rebecca is a graduate of the Art History program, and works as a Curator at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Our graduates have found work at a great wide range of cultural institutions in Canada and abroad.

Featured Exhibitions: Perspectives: Selections from the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, an exhibition curated by Rebecca Basciano.
